Week 10, Day 1

I’ve been sick for the last couple days, with a head cold. I took a couple of doses of Airborne over the weekend, then read in “What to Expect …” not to take those supplements in addition to the prenatal pill. So the only thing I have been using to try and help me feel better is tea and sleep. Really, the only thing the book said about it was not to overload on extra supplements of Vitamin C, and the same for Zinc and something else. And airborne is like a practical overdose of all of it. So oh well. Todd is also an Airborne junkie. He says that he has a cup of the Airborne nighttime hot cider everyday at work. I think he likes it better than the daytime stuff. Whatever works for him. I wouldn’t have normally taken PTO for a common cold, but under the circumstances it seemed like a good idea to sleep all day and try not to make the cold last for weeks. Ick! Oh well …

Our first appointment is on Monday. I am very anxious for it. I feel like pregnancy is one long biology class. And I am loving it … if I hadn’t gone into the arts, I would have totally gone into biology/health sciences.
Sometimes I still think about going back to school to be a chiropractor or something. 🙂 I am very excited for our first appointment. While I was home sick with a cold, I got the preliminary nurse phone call to go over some of the family history stuff. It was kind of hard … and there were so many questions. I have to clarify a few things with my mom and Todd and then bring the answers to the appointment. I am just really excited for them to say that this is a viable pregnancy and that in September we will have a baby. Dr. Dwyer will be my doc. I just want to be able to mesh with whoever is my doctor.

My friend Colleen is having a baby shower at the end of March. Yay! I am so excited! I haven’t been to very many baby showers. Just one really. So am I very much looking forward to this one!

I just learned that you can request your sonographer. I didn’t know you could request sonographers! That’s pretty cool! I have had an ultrasound (on another body part) and I really liked the person that did it.

Week 9, day 5

I didn’t have any ice cream all weekend. But I managed to eat almost everything else in the house. 🙂 But now I want ice cream again!

I WANT to clean everything. But I can’t seem to get over the anticipation of being tired afterward. Ha ha. So I am not tired enough to clean. I’m too lazy to clean because I know I will feel tired after the cleaning is done. So instead I just knitted.

Actually my Saturday was really full. I had breakfast with my mom and we went and spent a couple hours in a yarn shop. And then I was home for probably an hour before Mialy and I went to see “He’s Just Not Into You” and ate dinner. Then home for a change of clothes, then to the gym with Mialy. So Saturday was a good day. Yay! Sunday on the other hand …

The “space” issue: We’ve got plenty of space, but the bedrooms are a bit small, actually. And it’s the living areas that are very large. So Todd and I will have to start working on coming up with some ideas, for sure.

I have only uncovered the tip of the iceberg as far as stollers and car seats. But I have already fallen in love with the freakin’ most expensive stollers evahr, just because I think they look cool. http://www.bugaboostrollers.com/ We’ll find something, though, that is safe and practical because that is most important of all.

I am feeling a little better in the belly today, but i got the sniffles over the weekend and it has turned into a bit of a head cold. And for the first time, I dry heaved. ick!!! I thought it was a cough and the next thing I knew I was gagging at my desk. What? I am just glad nothing came out onto my computer. Ewww… that would be mess. It’s the heavy head that really sucks though. So at lunch, I may go home to sleep it off and drink lots of tea.

Week 9, day 2

Okay. I ate lunch at my desk so I can “run errands.” I am SO going to Dairy Queen and bringing treats back. My standby there is a mint-oreo blizzard. But sometimes I like the banana split blizzard. Blizzards though … I love them.

Sometimes I think of the eons that homosapiens has been able to keep itself going and procreate and survive without modern medicine. And I think about how amazing our bodies are to survive and thrive and fend off all sorts of things on its own. But then … I think of how modern medicine has help mortality rates go down and helped people survive diseases that they would have otherwise died from. That is truly amazing, too.

I have a gym membership with my friend Mialy and we haven’t done a very good job of inspiring each other lately. I’ve been downright pathetic and she has been busy. I love the idea of getting fresh air and being outside, I just haven’t made it out there. (GEEZ … the more I type, the more pathetic I feel.)

Todd calls me Hunner bunner. yeah. I think it’s one of those morphing nicknames: Started as “Honey,” then “Honey Bunny,” then because Todd adds -er to everthing, it became “Hunner Bunner.” Other examples of this: thinger, sockers, popper, cutter, funny now that I am trying to list them, I can’t think of them. Pregnancy brain!!!!
